Everything You Need To Know About DJing & Success

I have recently equppied myself with the book written for DJs by a DJ.

"Danny Rampling shares his 20 years experience at the top"...

I have only managed to read a few chapters so far but I'll conquer the whole of it soon and what a jolly good read it has been.

I definately recommend reading it. It offers great advice and is packed full of top tips. It is awe inspiring and I can honestly say that it has, already, slightly changed my life. I'm reading it with an open mind but hopefully it will totally change my life!

Already I have changed my thinking and the way I on look on at my DJing aims and DJing ambitions and ambitions in life have totally changed.

I can't wait to read it all.

Thanks Danny Rampling for sharing your knowledge. I have the edition with the 4 Hour DVD, I'll have to get around watching to watch that too.

Everything You Need To Know About DJing & Success is totally worth a read, I am in now way connected to Danny Rampling and nor will I recieve any payment or royalty in praising this book, nor do i have shares in this book but I definately reccommend that all upcoming and aspiring get ahold of this book.

I thought 'How To DJ (Properly): The Art And Science Of Playing Records (Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton)' was amazing. I have standing next to my music making machine, I could be flash and say in my studio but I'll be honest - it's my bedroom...
But everything You Need To Know About DJing & Success is next level. I dare you to arm yourself with a copy and see how it will change your life.

Make em shake it!

I did plan to upload a October house mix today and blog all about it and post about it via Twitter and Facbook and other social networking site but I recieved an email from SoundCloud which said this "..Our automatic content protection system has detected that your upload "Oct house mix" may contain content that is owned or licensed by EMI France.."

So unfortunetly I am not able to share with you my mix that I prepared for the Month of October and because I am only a mere mortal my time was taken up in Sept - I can only tell you how disapointed I am that I am not able to share my music with you at this time but I will have a new mix uploaded for the weekend.

A house music mix that I will be able to upload. A house music mix that I will be able to share. A house music mix that you will be able to download, own and keep.

But until then. Keep it real folks, keep it house!
I do apologise for keeping you all waiting.

Here is a glimpse as to what CD I have in my car - a little insight into my life and music tastes.

A fantastic remix of a house music classic

Club Therapy

Never have lyrics been so true for me. I love this song because it is true. Love the lyrics.

"When I go to a nightclub, you know...I'm not going for the fire that's coming out of the walls, yeah...I'm not going there to be in the VIP area and drink fancy fucking champagne. Nah, I'm not going for none of those reasons to tell you truth, you know...

I'm just going for the music...
I don't need big breaks and a big song with a buildup and lights and smoke... Fuck all that, I don't need none of that shit...
I just need some good music...
I got enough problems on my own man with women and jobs and DJing, making music you know, so when I do go out man I just wanna have a drink and just sit back man and be by myself...

And just nod my head to some good music...

Man, I don't wanna be fucked with all the lights and dressing nice. I'm just a regular guy, you know, who walks into a club and wants to hear a groove. I couldn't give a fuck less about all those girls over there man, I've had girls, man. All different types...
My life ain't gonna change tonight... But yours is..."

Will moombahton be as popular as dubstep?

Just a random thought.... I discovered Moombahton early this year and whilst I had a fascination for Dutch house at the time, this genre blew my mind. It was soo fresh and I was blown away. 'Finally' I thought ' Another genre of music, to fall in love with'. And boy do I love it. As a DJ it's not something that I am going to play out just yet - I think it's too young as a genre for the masses to understand. I think it's only going to take somebody like 'Chase and Status' to jump on the commercial band wagon. It's certainly going to happen and it's only a matter of time before we hear the first Moombahton record to hit the charts - Watch This Space! I never thought we would hear Dubstep hit the UK Top 10 like it has done....

Now I know both genres of music are at different ends of the spectrum but they are both mutants of sub genres of music. I wonder what will come next? maybe a fusion of both?... (Now that's an idea for the studio).
Both fascinate me and are inventions and evolutions that I think we'll look back on with pride in years to come, in the same way the generation of the late 80's and early 90s look back on with pride when house was born.
Dubstep has well and truly been embraced - there is no doubting it. You just have to look at the recent back catalogue of compilations that have pumped the chart and there is an endless list of Dubstep Albums. But while Dubstep is still enjoying it's growth stage in the product life cycle, I think Moombahton will sneak under the commercial radar and remain an underground genre for a long time to come. Maybe it'll fade away and a new mutant will be born that will make us forget and Dubstep and the genres that conceived it. But I like Moombahton and I can't wait to go to my first Moombahton rave so deep down I hope it avoids the commercial attention, I want it to remain exclusive and I don't want to hear Moombahton tremble from a Chavs car, like I do with Dubstep. I must say Moombahton is a lovely mutant and that's why I don't want it to become a commercial success. However I don't think I will love a mutant as much as I love House. It mutated from Disco and now it has many offspring. It has a large family that just keeps on growing. Mutant is such an ugly word. But I think it's a good word to use when describing music that evolves. House music is the most beautiful Mutant of them all.
